Lightning Safety for the Next Sacramento Storm

11/8/2017 (Permalink)

For your safety, it is important to have a plan and be ready to make changes to your day when there are conditions for lightning. If there is a thunderstorm in your area, there is no safe place outside. Lightning is fairly rare compared to the amount of people in a given area but that does not relieve the danger. If you can hear thunder, no matter the distance lightning is close enough to possibly strike you. It is important that if you hear this thunder, you get to shelter.

Once inside, it is important to stay off of corded electrical devices that are plugged into the wall. It is also important to avoid plumbing and things that are interconnected via metal such as baths and faucets. It is also a good idea to not be on concrete surfaces.
